In the village of Cetë in the municipality of Helmes, very close to Kavaja, there is the Church of St. Friday, known for its two great pilgrimages, that of July 25 and August 15. The building, although declared a cultural monument in the 1960s, has survived a major wave of cult demolition during the former communist dictatorship. She is 800 years old. It is the only Romanesque-Gothic building in Albania. The people of Kavaja have saved more than the state.
