Excellent wine and very good service. In relation to the wine: I don’t know where else you can get reliably good red burgundy at anything like this price. Red burgundy is the greatest joy in the wine world when it’s good - but buying it is a minefield. Unless you come here. People have said negative things about the owner. He is great. He takes what he does very seriously. It is his livelihood and and his passion. He runs an independent shop, looks after his customers, and backs his own views on the wines he seeks out, buys and sells. I have found that he is very helpful. He says what he thinks accurately and concisely. He knows his stock incredibly well, he remembers what I like better than I do, and I follow his recommendations. And the wine is very good, and well priced, and you are not going to find it anywhere else. This is a uniquely good shop because it has a serious and uniquely dedicated owner.

Honestly don't know how this establishment has customers. Went in today with a friend who knows his stuff and was looking for a particular vintage. Now, bearing in mind that my friend leads high-end guiding parties around this vinyard and was looking simply to have a chat about the region and spend money on wine, I felt like the owner couldn't wait to get rid of us. Think Black Books but less funny. Excellent hoard watched over by a mean dragon.

I’ve been buying my wine, booze and presents for colleagues here for over 15 years now from Tom. Top service, prices from an independent merchant. Delivers in all senses - esp useful if you ask for “a case of wine at £X/bottle for delivery to Y. Tom will insert a thank you message that you email him.

As a wine merchant Tom is very knowledgeable and can can make reasonable recommendations. However this is overshadowed by his pretentious belief that he is above everone and has no time for his customers. Great wine, awful customer facing attitide. I wont be going back

Many thanks Tom for your recommendations. The Running duck was a delight and the chardonnay was delicious. I have yet to try the muscadet but am sure it will be lovely and flinty dry. I shall be back to top up my stocks! Don't buy from the big concerns because the quality from Fingal rock exceeds expectations instead of disappointment!
