Banco de Occidente, S.A. is one of the banks of the Republic of Honduras, [1] [2] [3] founded on September 1, 1951 in the city of Santa Rosa de Copán, by Manuel Bueso Pineda and Jorge Bueso Arias and previously authorized by the Executive Power of Honduras on August 30, 1951, through AGREEMENT No. 500 of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. The Bank started its operations with an initial capital of 100 thousand lempiras divided into one thousand shares with a value of one hundred Lempiras each, in addition to incorporating the deposits and loan portfolio of the Casa Bueso, which for a long time had fulfilled banking functions .
