Ristorante-Pizzeria-Caffetteria J'adore

The food is mostly good, especially for its price. Portions are very large. As an appetiser Service on the other hand is so disorganised, it becomes entertainment by itself. So come early, otherwise you may have to wait a very long time.

For those who like to combine walking in the nature and visiting still existing places where our recent history had a mainstone event like the WW I, this is a perfect choice. The walk from the parking Place to the top of the mountain via the shortest way takes 1 hour and it is not for beginners or not-in-shape people (just consider that in winter time it is used as black ski track). Alternatively there is a longer and easier road (used by military vehicles) or the "funivia" at the price of 10Euro (up and back, for adult, in Aug 2019). All ways take you to the fortress on the top of the mountain at 2200mt. Once there you can enjoy the amazing view of the mountains and valley on the opposite side, where the old italian-austrian border was set before the WW I. Visiting the fortress will give you an idea of the enormous effort made to built it up and the terrible living conditions for the soldiers in charge to operate the fortress. 10 mins far by car from fortress Verena, there is also fortress Campolongo, with and easier walking access, but same feelings experience (fortress Campolongo has been restructed on 2018 end/2019 beg, so it is even more realistic).

Service needs work and food was average

I write this posthumous review because Google asks me to. Booked for the New Year's Eve dinner we ate in the cold (as if we had dined outside), the service sobbed so many waiters in the dining room but none with a specific task to carry out (asked for an extra cutlery, we took it ourselves from the drawer to get there first). We toasted at midnight and then left as soon as possible. I wanted to give a second chance because the environment was well presented but the place was closed in early January and it is no longer possible to book a dinner.

Large, bright room with modern furnishings. Large outdoor parking. Wide range of pizzas, creative and tasty, with the possibility of choosing restaurant dishes (for gluten intolerant for example, since they do not have various pizza doughs). Average prices, good value for money. Very friendly and attentive staff, willing to recommend even the best combinations. To go back without a doubt.
